Kindergarten Sports Day
A Morning of Crazy Athletics
Pictures and Captions
My boss informed me late on Friday that there was to be a Sports
day on the following Sunday. Not being one to miss on a chance to
take pictures I was there bright and early at 9:30am. Held in the
sports hall, the morning was full of activities for the kids and
even for the adults. It ran until 12:30, at which point everyone
was pretty tired. I took 400 pictures. Here's the pick of the
batch:

Before exercise, it's really
important to warm up, and while doing it, you should count up to
eight ( Audio 117kB). |
|
The opening event was an assault
course of some kind, involving jumping, balancing, crawling and
ending with one great big jump. |
|
To the purist, perhaps the relay
race represented the finest moment of the day: Drama, passion and
running really really fast. |
|
Running around a flag with with
a parachute stretched out behind was more fun than running without
one. |
|
The Apas and Omas got involved as well, running
relay races around the sports hall. There were about 40 dads taking
part, but only 12 mums. These were the most loudly cheered event -
the kids went crazy supporting their parents. |
|
An athlete's eyes gleam as he
keeps them on the target. Running under a net and eating some candy
are both important parts of this event. |
|
Rows of parents spectate and
record the athletic prowess (or lack thereof) of their young
offspring. |
|
Certainly one of the more
amusing events involved rolling a ball larger than most of the
children. |
|
A couple keep their eye on the
finish line as they round the flag in the 'carry your child' relay
race. |
