I climbed Bomunsan, one of the local mountain, in order to get a good view of the city. I timed it to coincide with sunset, even though the I wouldn't be able to see the sunset from my vantage point. The mosquitoes were out in force, but I managed to get a couple of nice shots before being chased down the mountain by the swarms.
During a peaceful evening, a citizen relaxes at the top of the mountain after an hour's climb. A steady trickle of hikers arrived at the top, stretched, relaxed, stretched, then headed back to the bottom. |
A beacon of sport in a dark city, the baseball stadium lights up at night. Professional sports in Daejon have failed to attract the kinds of crowds that I'm used to back home. The soccer stadium has never held more than a half capacity crowd for local games. It seems that the same is true of Baseball. The crowd made up for what they lacked in size by shouting loudly enough to be heard at the top of the mountain. |
